Susan Grinsted

Sue has held full-time positions in the aluminium and glass industries and has contributed to consultancy projects in many other sectors including automotive, aerospace and FMCG.

Her main interests lie in inventory reduction, operations planning and scheduling, and improving material flow.

In recent years, she has spent much of her time on contracts from the EU and international companies, mostly in the former Soviet Union, but also in Asia and North Africa, reorganizing manufacturing and developing personnel. She speaks fluent French, some German and some Russian.

Before becoming a full-time trainer and consultant, Sue spent nine years at the University of Warwick (where she wrote her PhD on plant scheduling) teaching Manufacturing Systems Engineering to post graduates, was instrumental in launching a major industrial simulation unit and was responsible for technology transfer projects to Royal Ordnance, IMI, Rover, and various smaller supplier companies. Subsequently, she spent some years in developing manufacturing education and research at Groupe ESC Rennes, France.

She is a visiting lecturer at Helsinki School of Economics, Finland, and the Ecole Supérieure de Logistique Industrielle, and ESC Rennes in France.

She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, a member of the Institute of Operations Management and currently Chair of the IEE Consultants Professional Network.
